Abbreviation: MCom


MCom in Accounting and Finance is for graduates in accounting or finance who want to upgrade skills in accounting, finance, information systems, taxation or auditing. It should be noted that completion of this degree does not qualify graduates for progression to membership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia or CPA Australia. Eight credit points advanced standing into the MCom can be given for a completed CPA or CA program MCom in Actuarial Studies is suitable for graduates who hold a bachelor degree in actuarial studies or equivalent professional qualifications (i.e. covering the syllabus of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia Part I requirements). The degree will allow students to complete Part II of their professional qualifications and extend their skills in related areas such as statistics, finance and economics. Candidates who have already completed Part II of the professional exams of the IAAust may be eligible for advanced standing. MCom in Business is a modern business degree that promotes both depth and breadth in postgraduate business studies. The program enables graduates to study units across a range of disciplinary areas offered by the Faculty of Business and Economics. The degree provides an opportunity to acquire an interdisciplinary understanding of business with a concentration in at least one major area of business activity. MCom in Information Systems and Technology is provided for students who seek a business perspective in their study of information systems and technology rather than a computer science perspective. MCom in Marketing is a specialist program in strategic, operational and international marketing. The program offers an intellectually rigorous approach to marketing, combined with practical relevance. This mirrors the character of marketing positions which demand a mix of skills.
