2010 Course Handbook

ECHL212: Visual Arts: Perspectives of Women

This unit examines the place of women in the visual arts as producers, and as subjects of representation. An analysis of the structures and modes of art production from the Renaissance to the 20th century reveals differences in art practice, for women and men. The ideologies of femininity and the division between the arts and crafts are also examined. The construction of images in a visual arts medium is an option for one assignment in the unit.
