Evolution and Human Behaviour - BBE101
This unit of general interest examines human behaviour from an evolutionary perspective, asking evolutionary questions about what makes us human, and what we share with other animals. Topics concerning cognition and social behaviours are covered by lectures interspersed with lively class discussions of some of the many interesting and often controversial issues in the field. Mating, cooperation, language, expressions of emotions, psychopathology, and the role of culture in human evolution are some of the topics. This is a great unit for reflecting on our human condition, of interest especially to students of biology, psychology, anthropology, and sociology, but open to all.
